Meet Dr. Sasser

Dr. William (Bill) Sasser grew up in Birmingham, Alabama. He attended undergraduate college at Samford University, where he received a B.S. degree in pharmacy. After moving to South Carolina and serving 3 years in the U.S. Navy, he entered the Medical University of South Carolina and graduated in 1973. Dr. Sasser completed his periodontal post-graduate training at the University of Alabama, and continued on to private practice in Charleston in 1976.
Bill is a fellow in both the American and International Colleges of Dentistry. He is a member of the American and South Carolina Dental Associations, and is past president of the South Academy of Periodontics. He is a trustee of the Christian Medical and Dental Associations, and on the advisory board of the Christian Dental Society. Bill was honored by the American Academy of Periodontics with the Humanitarian of the Year Award in 2009, and well as having recently accepted East Cooper Community Outreach's (ECCO) Stone Soup Award

A transition in dentistry took place with a break from private practice over the past few years due to a different calling in the area of missionary dentistry. Bill has been active locally with a number of charitable organizations, as well as a mentor to dental students at MUSC. He serves internationally on short-term mission trips each month with the Dental Community Fellowship, offering dental care to the poor in over 20 different countries. Bill is married to Susalee, who is retired from Delta Airlines. Together, they live in Mount Pleasant.
